Wednesday, 07/05/2006 - 5:47 p.m. I watched a surgeon amputate today for the first time since I started clinicals and I realized we're just meatbags. That could be a depressing and disturbing thought if I were a different kind of person but (as of right now) it's not bothering me. He took the patient's toes off right through the joints with just a scalpel. There was very little bleeding and very little fuss to it. We forget how fragile we really are.
